For the scenesters

This is for the kids of the scene.

This is for the kids who define themselves by which bands they listen to (or not listen to), and by which bands they have seen live, and where, if applicable.

This is for the kids who love the allure of the old, but not the old of their parents, or their grandparents, or anyone around them who's actually lived through it, but the old that they find themselves.

This is for the kids who are not burdened by any difficulties, freeing them to pursue whatever their heart desires, their every brushstroke deemed vastly superior despite it being like everybody else's.

This is for the kids who believe in expressing yourself freely, and more so, in expressing yourself freely so others may follow what you say.

This is for the kids who hold a passion for the beautiful, and who will design their spaces, their routines and their lives around the ideal of a well-composed, well-lit, well-framed snapshot.

This is for the kids who think highly of themselves, who can comfortably leave someone waiting for three quarters of an hour in a strange place without a word.

This is for the kids who painstakingly document their lives so someone, somewhere, will tell them that they do live a good life.

This is for the kids who wander, but do not want to get lost.

This is for the kids who get what they want.

This is for the kids who deserve it all.

Let's see what happens when you grow up.

Let's see what happens when the things you live for no longer suit what you should have become.

Let's see what happens when you find out that there is no way you can change the world you live in.

Let's see what happens when you find yourself in a dead end, with little to no control of where you're going, except in ever shrinking circles surrounded by people who you think do not understand you.

Ler's see what happens when you learn that no online petition, no hashtag, no amount of shouting has budged anyone to see things your way, to do things you way.

Let's see what happens when your parents, who loved you so much and supported you every way they can, pass on, or part ways, or just give up completely.

Let's see what happens when you, the most special person in this world, cease to be such.

Let's see what happens when the things you believe in are seen as old hat, antiquated, passé, and no yearning for what you deem as traditional values survives an onslaught of new thinking.

Let's see what happens when you find that you no longer have the time to do the things you want to do, and you see what you assume is everybody else move ahead of you, become better, be recognized for it.

Let's see what happens when the radio stations you listen to change the songs they play, and the people that play them too - maybe someone young and hip and vaguely popular.

Let's see what happens when the cool, obscure bands you listen to today becomes the mainstream darlings of tomorrow, when everybody else has figured out your secrets and moved on from it.

Let's see what happens when third wave coffee shops become too expensive, and you find yourself relying more on instant coffee.

Let's see what happens when vinyl dies again because it turns out to be a very difficult habit to justify.

Let's see what happens when there are no twigs left to paint.

And your responses...
