And photosensitive and hypertensive

The fact that I have been taking maintenance medicine for various heart-related things means I have long conceded the fact that I am not getting any younger, and that my body can no longer deal with everything it was theoretically able to do a decade ago or so. I get tired easily. I can't endure long drives as much anymore. Attempts at adding a little more physical activity to my routine ends with me catching my breath for far longer than I planned.

But today is different. Today was a really stark reminder, and that's because I really didn't do anything differently.

Well, I don't usually do my grocery shopping on a weekday, but today had to be an exception, because I was out of town over the weekend, and I was too tired to even think of going somewhere after driving home for three hours straight. Even then, I did the same thing last week.

No, the different thing today is the weather. And I'm not just blaming it. The shifts today have been pretty stark. It's dark as I emerge from the underground parking of the mall. There's not a small amount of rain. It stays that way as I enter the parking area of my condominium building. But the moment I enter my flat, it's incredibly sunny and bright. Hello, headache that can't be solved by a lie-down or a nap.

We talk about how the changing weather makes us feel, well, under the weather. I've seen it happen, but it has not happened to me, not as far as I know. But now, I'm both easily tired and photosensitive and hypertensive? And I can't sleep it away? And to make things worse, after lunch the skies grew dark again, and it started raining again, and then I blink an eye and suddenly it's bright and sunny again. Can I blame global warming for this? Or am I just being in denial about my age?

No, I'm not really... or maybe I am. If I stay a little younger, I might still be worthy of love.

And your responses...
